NC Pre-K
Age Range: 4- and 5-year-olds

Developmental Goals

NC Pre-K prepares children for a successful start in kindergarten. They will practice early reading, writing, and math skills through structured lessons and hands-on activities. They also grow socially and emotionally as they learn to work with others.

Teachers monitor each child’s development through classroom observation and formal assessments during the first 90 days of enrollment. These screenings help identify each child’s strengths and any areas where additional support may be helpful.

Language & Literacy
Children strengthen phonics, vocabulary, early reading, and writing skills.

Mathematics
Children build number sense, counting skills, patterns, and early problem-solving abilities.

Science
Children explore nature, the environment, and basic scientific ideas through observation and activities.

Social & Emotional Development
Children practice cooperation, self-control, and building positive relationships with peers and teachers.

Physical Development
Children strengthen coordination, balance, and motor skills through movement and play.

Health & Safety
Children learn healthy habits, personal care routines, and classroom safety.

Cognitive Development
Children develop thinking and reasoning skills through exploration and guided learning.

Creative Arts
Children express ideas through art, music, movement, and imaginative activities.

NC Pre-K Eligibility & Application

To enroll in the NC Pre-K program at KinderNoggin, children must meet the following requirements:

  • The child must be 4 years old on or before August 31 of the program year.

  • The child must live in Guilford County.

  • Families must complete the NC Pre-K application and submit the required documents.

During the application process, families may be asked to provide:

  • Proof of the child’s date of birth

  • Proof of Guilford County, North Carolina residency

  • Immunization records
